Public Health Under Threat!
The provincial government has proposed the merger of 35 public health units into 10 regional health agencies and announced a new public health funding formula that downloads more costs to municipalities. This will impact our members both professionally and as residents of Ottawa. Ottawa Public Health should not be merged with other health units and should remain a distinct public health service. Stay tuned for updates on this developing issue.
CIPP held 12 Negotiations Consultation Sessions this spring! Thank you to all who participated and provided us with feedback on what's important to CIPP members. If you were not able to attend don't worry, we will be sending out a Negotiations Survey this fall and look forward to hearing what's important to you.
You may have noticed our Campaign page has a new look. In June CIPP launched its new advocacy brand, Thriving Together. Whether you are a member of CIPP or a resident of the communities we serve, we are all Thriving Together. CIPP advocates for the kind of communities our professionals know we can have – because we live here too! It will also be the platform where we respond to governments and groups who devalue or threaten public services.
2019 has been a busy year for CIPP and we are looking forward to what's coming up this fall. Stay tuned for details on our AGM, member opinion survey, special members meeting, engagement and activism opportunities, and much more!
